Wow I am totally amazed at how well my Mom is doing
On the 24th the Doc woke my Mom upi to lket her know that they planned on puttin gin a Trach so that they could finally take her off the sedation and get her to wake up. which they did on Thursday the 25th, then on Friday the 26th they moved her from the ICU to a Rehab unit in the Hosp and 2 of my sisters where ther with her and also Guenter and my Brother and his Girlfriend, they went and got her a white board so that she could communicate because she could not talk.
They all came back on that Sunday leaving Barb there with Mom, Guenter cam home so that he could get some of the bills paid, then He went back down on Wednesday. My Sister Cris and I went down on Thurday and I was so happy to see mom sitting up if she needed something she would write it on the board to her it was really frustrating, but then on Friday while we were visiting her the Resipatory tech came in and put in a speaking valve so she could talk the respirator was then turned off but she was still recieving oxygen through the trach., Butthe best part was thet we could now hear her talk to us.
She is just doing so good. When we told her of the details of what had happened and what all she went troughshe had no idea that it had been that bad.
Yesterday 5 OCT Cris and I came home, and last evening the took the tube out of her Trach and put a bandage over the opening and said that it will close on its own in a few days.
Today 6 OCT Guenter said they had her walking.
They told us befroe we left that she might be able to come home as early as Wednesday. In the beginning they told us that she may be there for about 2 months.
Yea
My Mom and step dad went to Gatlinburg as they always do on their anniversary and her birthday. which was last week on the 15th of Sept, on Last thursday my Mom called me and said he wasn't feeling well and would probably end up in the Hosp. when she got home.
Well that did not happen she is in the Hosp in Knoxville TN. on a Ventalator since Friday and so far there has been no change. They are keeping her heavily sedated so that she can rest and get stronger so that she can breath on her own. Last sunday though Guenter and me and Sheri (my little Sis) were in the room with her and she all of a sudden opened her eyes. We were so happy to see her do that.
Today the 23 rd of Sept I talked to my Step Dad and he said that the doctor said that her kidneys might not be working as well as they sholud be, That was this morning) I talked to him after the 2pm visiting and the doctor then said it wasn't as bad as he had thought and that they were going to do some tests this afternoon.
And the best news of all was that Guenter said that Mom opened her her eyes looked at him and gave him a little smile he was so happy and so am I.
Maybe in a couple of days they might do a Tracheotomy so that they can take the tube out of her lungs and this way they can wake her up and get on the road to recovery. Having the tube in for an extended period is not good. So we are alwals hoping foe the best every day. Mom may have to be there for a while. But I know that she Know that well all love her very much.
